Terms & Conditions

A few policies.

If you have any queries before making a purchase, please contact me. I are happy to answer any questions to help you decide what you need. For any issues after delivery, please contact me via phone or email, for assistance.

The term I and we means George Gold & Co the owner and operator of the website www.georgegold.co.uk (the Website) whose registered office is Unit 3, Westgate Carr Industrial Estate, Pickering, North Yorkshire, YO18 8LX (references to, the Company, I and we, my and our mean George Gold & Co).

The term you or the customer refers to the customer, user or viewer of our Website.

Due to the ‘made to order’ and / or ‘specially made’ nature of our furniture, returns are only accepted for faulty items. Deposits for bespoke orders are non-refundable. For the (only sometimes available) in-stock items, returns are accepted within 14 days, with the buyer covering return shipping costs.

Order Confirmation.

An order is confirmed upon receipt of a 30% deposit payment. Any special payment terms for custom orders will be noted on the sales invoice. We begin the manufacturing process only after receiving the agreed payment. Interim payments between deposit and final invoice are sometimes necessary. Full payment becomes due on delivery and or installation.

Placing an order: The price of our products is displayed in GBP, and transactions are made  in that currency. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order after it has been placed. This may be done if:

– your payment is not authorised or has been designated as fraudulent, or potentially fraudulent, by the payment system;
– payment has been made using a card not issued in a country we dispatch to, or not where the billing address is;
– there is an error on the website regarding the price or description of a product; or
– if you have requested a bespoke product and it becomes clear that we cannot  carry out the work for any reason.
‍‍
We are not liable for any breach of agreement, for delay or failure to perform if the delay or failure is due to acts of nature, civil unrest, or other causes beyond our control.

Timber is a material of an inherenetly unique nature: no two samples are ever identical. While the images on this website accurately show what the products look like, customers must not expect the timber used in the making of their purchases to exactly match the wood grain and figure in the imagery of it. No refunds based on this disparity will be made.

Prices
All prices are in pounds sterling. VAT is not currently applicable.

‍Those prices which are shown do not include delivery which will be factored into the final price. All pricing, unless otherwise stated, is ‍included as guidance, fixed costings will always be agreed before manufacture begins.
Prices are subject to change. However, in the event of a change in prices, these will not affect an order which has been placed and agreed.

Delivery
Delivery services are maybe provided by a third-party courier. George Gold and Co. are not liable or responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party delivery services.

You have responsibility for the goods upon delivery. Inspect them upon receipt and note any damage or faults on the paperwork or with us. After signing for the goods, you are liable for any damage or loss of parts.

Building work or any other activity taking place at the delivery address and which may affect delivery ‍is the customer’s responsibility to appraise us of prior to delivery.

Cancellation and amendments to orders
If you wish to cancel or amend an order you should do so in writing, if your order is bespoke and has already started you will be charged a reasonable sum for the costs incurred.

Refunds will be made by the same method that the original payment was made by.

Returns policy
If any products you order from us are bespoke or made-to-order you will not be covered by the Distance Selling (The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013) (the “Distance Selling Regulations”), which means that you are not entitled by law to a refund, unless the products themselves are defective. Cancellation of orders in such cases will therefore only be accepted if the Company has agreed in writing to such a cancellation and on condition that you reimburse the Company all costs and expenses or losses and damages resulting from the cancellation.

We cannot accept returns based on the furniture being stored in extreme environments and / or conditions and this causing damage to the product. Timber is a hygroscopic material: it responds to its environment by taking on or giving up moisture to achieve equilibrium with that environment. Extremes of temperature and humidity should therefore be guarded against. Adverse movement in timber can be remedied via temperature and / or moisture regulation.
