A kitchen with over forty cupboards, compartments and drawers, like the one shown here, can safely be classified as a large kitchen. The ‘Formica’ colours and layout were to the client’s specification. My job was to design the whole for on site assembly. Very nearly all made to order kitchens are formed from cabinets grouped together side by side. This means that two thicknesses of cabinet wall will stand next to each other, doubling the amount of side panel material that is actually needed. The upright elements of this kitchen serve the compartments to both sides of it, saving a huge amount of material.
